Description

This chocolate pudding recipe is rich, creamy, egg-free and made from simple ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. Perfect for a quick dessert any day of the week.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup sugar

3 tablespoons unsweetened organic cocoa powder

1/4 cup organic cornstarch

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 3/4 cups milk

2 tablespoons room temperature butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. In a medium-sized saucepan, stir together sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.

2. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth with no lumps.

3. Heat over medium, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a gentle boil and thickens to coat the back of a spoon.

4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla until fully melted and incorporated.

5. Let cool slightly, then pour into serving bowls. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Make sure to stir constantly while cooking to avoid lumps.

For dairy-free, use oat milk and vegan butter.

Top with whipped cream, berries, or chocolate shavings for an elevated dessert.
